I Found The Secret to “Becky with the Good Hair” – Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin 1 Shampoo Review

I have been crazy busy the last week, with a lot of blogging assignments and my day job keeping me super busy, and to top off, I was under the weather! But I am stoked, about my first product review, and I could not have asked for a better brand than Kerastase. I love my hair and have always considered it a blessing and an asset!

Growing up a tom-boy with short hair it was very easy to manage, over the years I have succumbed to falling prey to the fancy hair colours and products out there, and have vowed to to maintain that glow and strength no matter what it takes. I have had all sorts of hairstyles, from really short to a bob to having it really long.

Did you know – “Kerastase conducted a study and decoded hair language – When we touch our hair, we send subtle signals. Keeping it nourished and healthy means we flip it, twist it, run our fingers through it. Hair language is its own form of expression.” (You can view their videos online via their website)

Kerastase is a high end luxury brand known the world over for creating some of the best quality hair care products out there in the market. I have had the opportunity to try a few of their products over the past few years, and have to say, my hair does the talking everywhere I go!

Every girl or woman out there seeks to have the best hair day possible, sorry guys, we have more traumatic days that you lot!  We know how well-groomed and shiny, healthy looking hair can give us the extra confidence , we need. Having a new and trendy hairstyle creates a boost in confidence too. Don’t you agree?

Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin 1 Irisome (for normal to slightly dry hair)

Claims by Kerastase – “The Kérastase Nutritive range, a nourishing care designed to make hair supple and irresistibly soft to the touch, targets dry hair symptoms at the core with a custom routine for three levels of dryness.”

My Review – The packaging is a white plastic bottle, with an orange/silver lid.  As the lid is a bit wider, it’s a bit tough to open at first as it’s a screw cap, rather than a flip cap. The smell, is very mild, unlike the other Kerastae products, that have a nice scent to them. This one seemed to have tinge of citrus fragrance to it. Again very mild. The colour is almost opaque white and is seems thick, so does not ooze out a lot. Which is good considering the size of the bottle and the price. A little squeeze and it goes a long way.

When applied to damp hair, it lathers up fairly quickly and instantly you can feel the hair texture stay moist, just as it claims. Even after washing the residue off, I felt my hair feel very supple and smooth. To test this out more so on what Kerastase claims, I opted out of using the conditioner twice now, to see how best the moisture had retained.

Well during blow drying, I noticed that my hair was super soft and felt it was easy to style. I didn’t use the straightener, as I felt I didn’t have to. My hair was not tangled like before. The shampoo left my hair feeling fresh and had a healthy shine to it, that to without a conditioner!! It doesn’t dry the ends. Hair felt alive and not weighted down by other chemicals I spray on, as I didn’t feel I had to, after using this shampoo. (Again, this review, is based on three washes, two without conditioner).

To put it to full test, against the might weather here in Bangalore. I traveled to work both days, that morning I washed my hair, in an Auto Rickshaw. I just let the wind in my hair like literally, as you can see from the video. My hair had a ball! When I usually get off from a rickshaw ride, the wind and dust usually makes the hair dry and brittle instantly, here it was still soft and I could run my fingers through easily, it was a cinch!

Overall, This unique formula, contains glucose, proteins and lipids to provide optimal nutrition to hair fiber. The moisture and suppleness is restored, and the nutritive layer protects hair from the insane weather.

For Better Results and get the full added advantage and benefit, I would highly recommend going for the entire step by step procedure.
Step 1 – Bain Satin 1
Step 2 – Lait Vital
Step 3 – Necter Thermique

Pros

  • I usually wash every other day, or as soon as it gets greasy, My scalp remained non greasy for over 3 days.
  • Does what it says, leaves the hair shiny and look supple
  • Hair has its bounce, and not weighted down.
  • Less styling time and less use of external products.

Cons

  • Availability in India is Limited and all products are available for purchase exclusively at authorized Kerastase salons.
  • Packaging could be better, to open/close, I felt it a bit of a chore especially when in hurry to have a shower <wink>

Verdict

So what its worth, I would highly recommend this product for those who have dry hair, and or abused it with colouring and excessive heat. I rate this a 4/5.

A Picture of me back at work, after that thrilling ride in an auto rickshaw, and no I do no and did not use a comb – Ever!
