Sky Taxis are Here to Stay – HeliTaxii launched in Bengaluru

What the people of Banglore love the most is the weather, what they dread the most is the traffic. There seems to be some respite. As we now have sky taxis that will soon take over to beat the traffic woes!

Bengaluru is all set and launched its Helicopter taxi service. The destination covers Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to Electronic City. But will later expand to ITC Gardenia on residency road and HAL (old airport road). Riders will cover a journey that usually takes two plus hours by road to 15 minutes by air.(Electronic city to airport).

Not everyday you get to fly in style. I had the best experience to fly via the first HeliTaxii. I was just thrilled and just couldn’t wipe that smile off my face. It was as exhilarating and left me at awe. It ended to too soon before I could soak it all in. But I managed to record a good memory for now. Here is my experience via HeliTaxii that I shot and edited.

Timings –

Service two shifts from 6.30 to 9.30 am and from 3.00 to 6.15 pm. For now this is available between Bengaluru airport and Electronic City.

Cost –

The heli taxi cost about INR3,500 plus GST which will be approx INR 4130 or so. Luggage should not exceed 15kgs (to know exact diameters refer app whilst booking as listed below).

How to book?

You can book your seat(s) via the Heli Taxii mobile app available on both Google Play (Android) and Itunes (IOS)

Thumby Aviation

Is not a new name in the aviation space, led by Capt. KGN Nair (Chairman) and his son Govind Nair. I had the opportunity to meet the father and son duo running the company. For now they have has set up two Bell 407 helicopters, to seat about 6 passengers. They plan to expand their venture into other tourist destinations within Karnataka and this will be a blessing indeed for that quick weekend getaway.

Verdict

If you are willing to shell out the extra amount, you get a hassle free ride toward home or the airport. It is a bit heavy on the pockets for now, but if its a success we may see the cost go down a bit and more places included.
From watching the helicopters fly past and me waving endlessly as a kid as they flew past to finally being able to sit and fly in one. And share my experience has been absolutely phenomenal. An epic one to say the least!  For now, all I can say is I am still on cloud 9 from my trip, though it was very brief, it was amazing to watch Namma Bengaluru from above. Here is hoping Bangalore traffic eases out and we have better services like this to travel. Sky Taxis are Here to Stay!

Have you flown a heli taxi before would love to hear your thoughts about the same!
