Digital Detox and Heartfulness Meditation @ Kanha Shanti Vanam, Hyderabad

A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles, so start each day with a grateful heart!

Sometimes the heart knows things…the mind cannot explain. Living in a chaotic and restless world, it is impossible for us to find peace and the quite time we need to unwind. We get burdened by society to lead a certain lifestyle. In this era, technology rules over us. We have become mere puppets. We are on our phones or laptops or any gadget – you name it and we are on it!! Our mind is overflowing with thoughts constantly. We are unable to cope with the pressure, and hence suffer from stress and depression. Having a calm mind has become the latest luxury. We seek to get onto the digital detox bandwagon to find ourselves.

The last couple of years, with a rough patch of bad health, my mother’s passing (which was the biggest set-back). It has been very hard to let her go!! I have tried to focus and meditate to find inner healing!

Meditation has helped me to find self-love and sense of purpose to move forward and be headstrong. I haven’t mastered the art of meditation yet. But a little time out goes a long way. I can now think clearer and put my focus and attention on more important aspects in life. I have learnt to become more aware of my surroundings, and lead a more balanced life. Heavy traffic doesn’t bother me as much as it did. I get time to pen down my thoughts on my phone or work on editing my images or vlogs for my lifestyle blog. Again, to each their own. There is no right or wrong way to meditate. Be grateful for the time at hand.

The invite to Kanha Shanti Vanam in Hyderabad was what the doctor ordered! I have had the opportunity to experience a meditation process which has been an eye-opener for me.

Did you know ‘Sahaj Marg; is form of ‘Raja Yoga’, which is a heart-based meditation system. It is a combined process of Meditation, Cleaning and Prayer.

Kanha Shanti Vanam:

Sri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM) is the organizational body that runs Kanha Shanti Vanam. HQ in the Chegur Village in Hyderabad (State of Telangana) they have branches all over the world. The HQ is about 25 kms from the airport, roughly takes about an hour to drive down.

Kanha Shanti Vanam is a spiritual retreat centre. A self-sustaining integrated township. It also houses a residential colony along side the meditation and prayer centres.
The highlight of the retreat centre is the Green Space called Green Khana. Once a barren rocky terrain, this initiative has transformed the area. It now flourishes with a variety of flora and a large species of birds. Artificial ponds ensure there is no storage of water supply. Waste gets treated and irrigated back across the property.

There are dormitories or apartments you can book to suit your comfort and stay whilst at the retreat center. The meditations along with yoga and other sessions are conducted throughout the day. Food served is vegetarian and can be accessed at their in-house canteens.

Did you know there are over 1.20 lacs trees planted and the in-house nursery, and has over 675 varieties of herbs, trees, decorative plants, flowers fruits and vegetables along with over 150 bee collection units placed as part of the ecological growth.

Meditate with your Heart?

Heartfulness meditation has nothing to do with any culture or religious belief, neither does it ask you to stray away or convertThe teachings on meditation help us to stay focused to find ourselves, and lead a more healthy and balanced lifestyle

We tend to focus on our mind and body more, and forget the importance of our heart. The heart being the most vital organ, it works non stop to keep us alive. Heartfulness meditation teaches us to concentrate on our heart. This in turn flows the energy to mind, body and our soul that integrate and become one.

Happiness does not come to us at a stroke of luck, or appear if we are fortunate enough. It is in-fact, our personal effort. The time we take to seek ourselves. Meditation and self-love will help us achieve a sense of calm and lead us to living a more happier life.

Heartfulness meditation workshops are conducted all over the world. You can learn to meditate at your home, work or any place. For assistance the Heartfulness App is best way to stay connected. You can download the app via Google Play or Itunes.

Meeting Kamlesh D. Patel also known as Daaji

Daaji is the forth spiritual guide at the Sahaj Marg system (Raja Yoga meditation). A self-professed student of spirituality. His focus lies on sharing his experience on spirituality to those who seek that perfect blend of eastern heart and western mind

It was a blessing to meet with Daaji. I also received a personal signed copy of The Hearfulness Way by him, co-authored by Joshua Pollock (Heatfulness trainer and practitioner).
Meeting Daaji, the forth spiritual guide at the Sahaj Marg system and author of The Heartfulness Way

About the Book:

Daaji, traces a seeker’s journey as he examines the nature of spiritual search. Through a series of illuminating conversations between a teacher and a student, Daaji reveals the core principles of the Heartfulness practice and philosophy to Joshua
Pollock, a Heartfulness practitioner and trainer.

From reflecting on the essence of prayer and yogic transmission to demystifying the act of meditation through practical tips, this book will enable us to live beyond the filters of our sensory limitations and discover unity within ourselves. To practise Heartfulness is to seek the essence beyond the form, the reality behind the ritual. It is to centre oneself at the core of
one’s heart and find true meaning and contentment there. To order you own copy “CLICK HERE”

Final Thoughts

Overall, I had a wonderful time at the retreat centre with fellow influencer’s from the city of Bangalore and met a lot of lovely people during my stay. From Leila, the gorgeous yoga instructor to Elizabeth Denley, who is the Editor-in-Chief at ‘Heartfulness Magazine’ and also a meditation practitioner.

To keep negativity away is not as easy as it seems, for we are mere humans. But with practice we can control our negative thoughts. I hope I can use the meditation techniques to help me grow better as a person. Again, we have a choice! If you listen to your heart, your mind, body and soul will find inner peace and balance to help you in the pursuit of happiness. I look forward to reading my copy of the book, and share my experience on meditation and its benefits on a later blog post.

I would describe myself as someone who loves to eat good food and travel, am polished and classy, yet have that little girl spirit in me and my fashion sense is chic which has to be accompanied with bold statement pieces and fresh accessories. I love to get pampered, totally spoil myself, and why not? xoxo Deena Pinto #skinnygirldiairez
