The weather in Bangalore is gorgeous throughout the year. Yet the Monsoons have their own beauty and nothing like sipping on some spirits to get you all warmed up!
EazyDiner and Sheraton Grand curated an exquisite Whiskey Dinner with Jack Daniels to celebrate EazyDiner’s association with the brand, to savour the world’s number one bourbon Jack Daniel’s paired with Sheraton’s gourmet five course menu set up by Executive Chef Jatinder Pal Singh and his Team. This was an all-exclusive dinner where an elite group of socialites, journalists and bloggers were greeted to a lovely old Fashioned served up in tea cup. What was intriguing was the style in which it got served. I loved how the citrus infused ice-cube, doused with a shot of bourbon via a syringe made the drink all the more irresistible to try.
We sat at the lounge bar “Chime”, for some conversation as we sipped our old fashion, which set the mood for the night. Mr Saurabh Thakur ( Director of Food & Beverage ) and Executive Chef Jatinder Pal Singh, prepped us up for what was in store for us for the eve. The piano caught my attention, and I had to try a few notes, and pose for a picture. We then went around a brief property tour of the latest Sheraton to set its address in Bangalore. This hotel boosts 8 floors and has 360 rooms. It is the second largest hotel with regards to the number of rooms in this city .
Post this we arrived by the pool where a lavish dinner table was waiting for us to take our seats. The icing on the cake was each of the guests had their very own Server, to take care of us through the course of the night. We each had five whisky tasting glasses placed on a wooden tray with a brief – name of the drink and its expressions.
Brand Ambassador at Jack Daniels – Vinit Udyavar introduced us to each pour whilst the servers got us the elaborate courses in unison.
Menu & Tasting Pours (Non Vegetarian Option, as I chose this one)
Variety of breads that went well with the most disguised butter I had seen called “Walk in the Garden ”
Pan Roasted Scallops | Texture of Cauliflower | Honey & Truffle Dressing – Served with Jack Daniel No. 7
The Scallops were sautéed nicely, and had a nice texture to compliment the JD.
Tasting Notes Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey N0. 7 –
Process – charcoaled mellowed throught 10 feet of sugar maple
Aroma – a balance of sweet vanilla and caramel with hint of oak edge
Taste – spiced oak with layers of soft smoke charecter, coconut, and citrus fruit rind sweetness
Finish – delightfully creamy and clean
Lamb Agnialoti | Arugula | Apple wood cloud – Served with Gentleman Jack
Now I have no words to describe this dish. It was pulled lamb cooked to perfection for about 24hours, which gave it a nice silky texture topped with caramelised onion, goats cheese and mint. The flavours were so succulent I savoured it in a jiffy.
Tasting Notes Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack –
Process – double mellowed for ultimate smoothness
Aroma – a wonderful balance of sweet orange, vanilla and exuberant mint accents
Taste – full bodied with flavours of sweet vanilla, fruit t & light spices
Finish – exceptionally smooth, warm and pleasant
Boston sour Sorbet – To cleanse our palates we were each given some relishing sorbet!
Lamb chops| Grilled tomato & Traditional Chateau potato| Béarnaise Sauce – Served with Single Barrel Select
A classic main course dish this – herb crusted lamb loin served with its traditional accompaniments and demi–glace a lovely brown sauce that kicked up the flavour of the lamb.
Tasting Notes Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select –
Process – Charcoal mellowed through 10 feet of sugar maple, matured in toasted and charred new white American oak barrels that are handcrafted and stored in upper most warehouse locations.
Aroma – robust and complex with caramel, oak and subtle fruit
Taste – rich toasted oak and complex barrel spices
Finish – warm and lingering
Ah dessert!! Let me tell you after gorging on the above courses, I was stuffed and was kinda thinking I wore something really lose fitting. This was just what we needed to end out gourmet meal. Rich in flavour, not sweet. Yet the special ingredient which the chef didn’t disclose was too good to relish.
Finish – smooth with long traits of rich honey and nut character
To close the dinner we got a shot of Jack Daniels’s Tennessee Fire…I got carried away with clicking images…how beautiful against each light, don’t you reckon?
Tasting Notes Jack Daniel’s Tennesse Fire –
Process – a blend of JD’s Tennessee whiskey and hot cinnamon liqueur
Aroma -hot cinnamon and JD
Taste – red-hot cinnamon liqueur with the smooth character of Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7
Finish – smooth start, fiery finish
Overall a fantastic night, we stayed back for a while just having light conversations and sipping on JD. I have to say this was one of the best events I’ve been to in a long time. EazyDiner thanks for inviting me over to enjoy the experiential evening.
